4 Pilot Course - This was the first large intake under the IAF Voluntary Reserve scheme with 72 trainees who were commissioned. These officers were civil flying licence holds and joined the Initial Training School (ITS) at Walton lahore on 1st August 1940 to train on the TigerMoths. On reporting to ITS they were given commission as Acting Pilot officers. This training continued till 7th November 1940. Thereafter the officers were sent to No.1 Flying Training School (FTS) at Ambala on 1 Decmber 1940 for intermidiate and advanced training on Wapiti, Hart and Audax. On completion of this training on 30th May 1941, they were awarded wings and posted to various Coastal Defence Flights (CDF). 24 trainees of the course were sent to UK after the first 4 weeks in Walton for further training.
